About

ciaPhoto is fiber art and photography business registered in NY State. I retired in 2006 from Rochester Institute of Technology as Professor Emerita in the School of Mathematical Sciences and formed ciaPhoto to showcase and sell my nature photographs. When I traveled to such diverse places as Europe, Africa, Antarctica, and the US National Parks, the common thread of my photography was a vision of patterns, which echoed my professional math interests.

At the time of my retirement I also began quilting for the first time. At first I made bed quilts based on traditional patterns, but by 2013 I branched out to doing more improvisational work. The perfect blending of my photography and quilting occurred when I began using my digital images as a spark to create art quilts. A few examples are shown below.

ciaPhoto has changed over the last seven years to a business that emphasizes fiber art, although I still sell some photographic work, particularly bookmarks and cards. Some of my art quilts are based on topics from my years of college math teaching, such as geometry, symmetry, fractals, and the Golden Mean.
